The Melnyczuk Family Web Site

Work news is... no news.

Lately I have been finding it rather difficult updating this Web site with news. So much of what happens in our lives revolves around work, and because most of Mikhailo's work is secret, I sometimes can't even say who he's developing technologies for — let alone what the projects involve.

By now I have written, edited, emended and amended so many non-disclosure agreements that I am thinking of developing a system to do it as a production line business. I would be my own first customer, because I still have so many to draw up.

The other thing about having so much news which is work-related is that even if it isn't "subject to non-disclosure", you can't exactly go around publishing entertaining gossip about your suppliers, colleagues, staff and customers on the Internet — nor can you explain how you are putting together a proposal for so-and-so based on some clever premise, because then you give away your competitive advantage to all and sundry; nor can you tell about how you almost forgot to recertify an employee's Notes ID, because then some of your customers might just start fearing that you're totally irresponsible!

So, I am afraid my news is rather bland at the moment.

Last month was the first time I presented a course on behalf of the University of Stellenbosch Graduate School of Business (or USB Executive Development, as they are now known). This was a customised 2-Day course in MS Project for IZIKO, the group which manages all the major South African museums in the Western Cape.

I liked the delegates, and speaking to them reminded me of how much I liked museums when I was a child!
