Election night update
Oom Jannie was kind enough to point out that I spelled Ilani's name wrong all over the Web site (now corrected — search for it and find out!) — baie dankie, oom Jannie, ek is fussy oor sulke dinge.
Ever wondered about all those spoilt votes during every election? Do people scribble swearwords on the papers or do they simply draw the crosses all skew because they are half blind? Well, there's another reason: Some of the votes are former schoolteachers, who for years have been making tick marks to indicate right and cross marks to indicate wrong. Today, Ma proudly made her tick marks next to her favourite political party and popped the papers into the box...
