On 30 June (Tania's birthday), colleagues held
a birthday lunch for her at the office.

I probably swallowed a large metal pipe when I wasn't paying attention.)
Relatives from the Western Cape (and two surprise visitors from the Karoo) attended Tania's 40th birthday party (held on her father's birthday on 1 July, and arranged at her request by her mother). Anton (Tania's brother) and his fiancée Liezel in Australia sent messages which were read at the party. Only Tania could understand Anton's message, as it referred to many childhood incidents which no-one else could remember or ever even knew about.
